Is Chat Still As Popular

chat is still wildly popular. There are tons of other chat networks out there. They aren't all as newb friendly as your MSN's and YAHOO's but there is by no means a lack of places to chat.

Its really hard to build up a chat these days especially from scratch, sometimes you might have to idle for days just to get enough chatters to talk with & stay in your room., if they come in and see an empty room their gonna leave as quickly as the arrived.

there are just so many chat networks that open and close shortly after.. makes it harder for people to trust new chats. + you have so many very nice persons ( yes i said very nice persons ) who spend their time attacking irc servers making it harder and harder to provide a good chat place.

I was just wondering what people think about chat..is it still popular, or are people just more interested in scripts now that the actual chat???

 

I personally think not more interested in script but more interested in new hype's. I think the chat hype is a bit past and it is more blogging and myspace activities now.. and offcource messenger.

 

If I look at myself as example, I used to chat but I never do anymore now. Its because of a change in my life situation, in the time I was with my ex I was in desparate need for some normal social contact I wasnt allowed to have in real life from him, but these days I think chatting is more a waiste of time.. I like forums though!

I agree, I have not been to a chat site in a while because really they seem old to me..

Back when I first got the internet and was like WOW CHAT!!

I would chat for ages building my MSN up with random contacts (ah the good old n00b days).

 

Though I was a bit behind I first got the internet in 2001, so I've only had the net for 5 yrs.

 

These days I'm more focused on programming and webdesign,

Instead of just chatting on MSN I post on NamePros, WHT, FWS, Digg.

 

Really I think you get to a point where you think, 90% of these people in this chat room are so immature its not funny, they spam, flood, insult, abuse, flame... While on a forum the rules can be better enforced.

 

How often do you see a chat room get flooded? compared to how often you see forum get flooded?
