Privacy overview
This Privacy Policy explains how TG007.net / TechGear007 ("TG007", "we", "us" or "our") collects, uses, stores and discloses information when you visit the Site or use TG007 services such as member accounts, profiles, the Forum, Site News, Messaging, Files, Snippets, Screenshots, comments and related community features.
TG007 is an independent technology and IRC community. We collect information needed to operate the Site, provide requested features, protect accounts and the community, enforce our Community Guidelines, and support the Site. We do not sell or rent your personal information.
Last updated: August 30, 2026.
Account and profile information
When you create or maintain a TG007 account, we may store information such as your username, email address, account status, email-verification status, join and activity dates, registration IP address and account preferences.
Optional profile information may include a member title, birthday information, timezone, website address, gender, location, country, interests, Skype information, biography/about text, signature, avatar and cover image. Information you place on your public profile is intended to be visible to other Site visitors according to the feature's current access rules.
Passwords are stored using one-way password hashes rather than as readable plaintext. TG007 also stores hashed verification/recovery tokens and related security records needed for account verification and password recovery.
Public community content
Content you submit to public or community areas may be visible to other users and visitors. This can include Forum topics and replies, Site News discussions, comments, Files and File information, Snippets, Screenshots, ratings, reactions, profile information and other material you intentionally publish.
Public content may include your username, avatar, submission time, edit information and other context needed to identify the contribution. Search engines or third parties may copy or index information that is publicly available. Removing an account does not guarantee removal of material that was already copied or indexed outside TG007.
Private messages and member communications
TG007 Messaging stores conversations, participants, message content and attachments so messages can be delivered to the people participating in the conversation. Private messages are not displayed as public Site content.
TG007 Messaging is not end-to-end encrypted. Message records are stored on TG007 systems and may include the sender identity, timestamps and IP address associated with a message. Access may occur when reasonably necessary to operate or secure the service, investigate abuse or a reported safety issue, comply with legal obligations, or when a participant provides or reports message content.
Technical, security and usage information
When you use TG007, our systems may receive technical information such as your IP address, browser/user-agent information, requested pages, timestamps and other connection or request details normally supplied by a web browser.
TG007 uses some of this information for authentication sessions, registration and sign-in rate limiting, account security, abuse prevention, download limits, Forum and Messaging security records, troubleshooting and service operation. Security and authentication records may contain hashed identifiers rather than the original login value where practical.
To reduce automated spam and coordinated abuse, TG007 may score submission timing, honeypot fields, request/browser signals, account age/verification state, repeated content fingerprints, promoted link domains and submission frequency. The dedicated abuse-intelligence record stores hashes/fingerprints, detected signals and limited routing context rather than a second copy of the submitted message body. Routine low-risk telemetry is retained for a shorter period than flagged abuse/moderation evidence.
Cookies and session storage
TG007 uses cookies that are necessary or useful for Site functionality. A TG007 authentication cookie keeps signed-in members connected to their account. Session records may include the member ID, IP address, user-agent information, creation/activity times and an expiration time.
If you select a "remember me" option when available, the authentication session may be kept for a longer period; the current TG007 default is up to approximately 30 days. Normal sessions are shorter-lived. Authentication cookies use security settings such as HttpOnly and SameSite, and Secure is used when the Site is served over HTTPS.
The modern TG007 cookie notice also stores a cookieaccept cookie for approximately one year after you choose "I Understand" so the notice does not need to be shown on every visit. Some older Site features may use additional functional cookies.
You can configure your browser to block or delete cookies, but doing so may prevent sign-in or other Site features from functioning correctly.
How we use information
We use information collected through TG007 to:
- create, verify and maintain member accounts;
- authenticate members and protect account sessions;
- deliver Forum, Messaging, profile, notification, File, Snippet, Screenshot and other community features;
- send transactional email such as account verification and password-recovery messages;
- display content and activity that you choose to make public;
- detect spam, abuse, account attacks and other misuse;
- moderate the community and enforce Site rules;
- diagnose errors, maintain service reliability and improve TG007; and
- support advertising and other services that help operate the Site.
Administrative email is not treated as automatically opted-in marketing merely because you have an account. Where TG007 provides an email preference, we use that preference when deciding whether optional administrative/community mail should be sent.
Privacy and the Community Guidelines
Privacy does not remove the need to keep TG007 safe. Community activity is subject to the same moderation and safety standards described in the Terms of Service and Community Guidelines.
Public Forum posts, comments and other community submissions may be reviewed, moderated, edited, hidden or removed when necessary to enforce TG007 rules. Account restrictions, bans and related administrative records may be retained to prevent repeated abuse and document moderation decisions.
Private messages are not public Forum content and are not intended for routine public display. However, privacy cannot be used to shield threats, abuse, spam, security attacks or other conduct that requires investigation. If message content is reported by a participant or otherwise must be reviewed for security, safety or legal reasons, TG007 may review and preserve the information reasonably necessary to address the issue.
For the current participation rules, read the TG007 Community Guidelines.
Advertising and third-party services
TG007 uses Google AdSense to display advertising. Google and its advertising partners may use cookies, local storage, device/browser information, IP addresses or similar technologies to serve and measure advertising and, where applicable, personalize ads. Those services are governed by Google's own privacy and advertising policies.
The modern TG007 interface also loads web fonts from Google Fonts and Bootstrap CSS from the jsDelivr content-delivery network. Normal requests to those providers can disclose technical information such as your IP address, browser details and the requested asset.
Some Site forms use Cloudflare Turnstile to reduce spam and automated abuse. Pages may also contain links to, or embedded content from, external services such as YouTube. Interacting with an external or embedded service may cause that provider to receive information under its own privacy policy.
For additional information about Google's use of advertising technology, see Google's advertising technologies information. Google also provides advertising settings for users of its services.
Sharing and disclosure
TG007 does not sell or rent your personal information. We may disclose information in the following circumstances:
- when you intentionally make information public through TG007;
- to service providers involved in hosting, advertising, security, content delivery, email delivery or similar Site operations;
- when reasonably necessary to investigate abuse, enforce the Terms or Community Guidelines, protect TG007 or other users, or prevent fraud/security incidents;
- when required by law, legal process or a valid governmental request; or
- in aggregated or de-identified form that is not intended to identify an individual user.
Links to third-party websites do not mean TG007 controls those sites. Their collection and use of information is governed by their own policies.
Data retention, correction and account deletion
TG007 keeps information for as long as reasonably necessary for the purpose for which it was collected, to operate the community, maintain security and moderation records, preserve historical community continuity, resolve disputes, satisfy legal obligations and maintain backups.
Short-lived authentication sessions and recovery/verification records expire according to their configured lifetimes and may be purged. Other records may remain longer. Public Forum posts, comments, News discussions and other contributions may be retained after an account is removed so conversations and historical resources remain coherent. Where appropriate, those records may remain associated with a username snapshot, a deleted/historical-account label, or other limited attribution.
When TG007 administrators complete an account-deletion request, the account is made permanently unusable: authentication credentials, active sessions/tokens, profile information, current roles and the account's active username/email identity are removed or replaced with private tombstone values. Historical community contributions and moderation/security evidence may be retained where necessary for continuity and accountability, with current TG007-linked attribution changed to a deleted-member label where appropriate.
You may update available profile information through TG007 member tools. To request assistance with access, correction or account/data deletion, use the Contact page and include the email address associated with the account so the request can be verified.
Deletion requests do not necessarily require TG007 to erase information that must be retained for security, abuse prevention, moderation, legal obligations, backup integrity, or the continuity of public community discussions. Backup copies may also remain until they are overwritten or retired through normal backup practices.
How we protect information
TG007 uses technical and operational safeguards intended to protect accounts and Site data. Current native systems use password hashing, hashed authentication/recovery tokens, CSRF protection, secure cookie settings, prepared database statements, rate limiting and access controls where applicable.
No website, network or storage system can guarantee absolute security. You are responsible for keeping your password private and for using reasonable care with information you choose to publish.
Children's privacy
TG007 is a general technology/community website and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly seek to collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided personal information to TG007, please contact us so the situation can be reviewed.
Changes to this Privacy Policy
TG007 may update this Privacy Policy when Site features, service providers, security practices or legal requirements change. The updated date near the beginning of this policy will be revised when a material policy update is published. Continued use of TG007 after an updated policy is posted is subject to the current policy.
