hla2000
Hey all, not sure if this belongs here or not, but I have a question about running mirc on Linux. I just installed Ubuntu on my computer and it works great, but I would also like to be about to use mirc chat program. Someone told me about a program called Wine, which makes it possible to run Window program on Linux. I looked it up and downloaded Wine, but it won't install. It keeps says that some parts are broken. Has anyone else here use Wine and if so how did you get it to install? Thanks for any help you can give me. err0r
check out this site for info about wine and ubuntu https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Wine I have done it in the past and had no issues. If you want an IRC client that is more appropriate for linux try x-chat http://xchat.org/
_Mhz_
Hello On Ubuntu 9.10 two versions of Wine is available in the Software Center. You have to enable Universe/Multiverse in Administration Software source

If you want an IRC client that is more appropriate for linux try x-chat http://xchat.org/ Thanks for you help. I finally got it to work. I already have the mirc program and I am using it with buzzen.com, so thats why I wanted to stay with mirc. Do you know if XChat works with buzzen? The Gate Keeper
xchat is a client, so it should work as buzzen uses normal irc based connections, meaning there should be no need for a special connection script.

hla2000
ok thanks for all the advice. How do I enable the Universe/Multiverse in Administration Software source? I download the xchat, but I am still trying to figure all this out. MIRC works with Wine, but I can't use the script editor. So it has a few quirks. I'll look at X-Chat so more. Again thanks. Kronicdreamer
mirc works in Wine about 95%, to use the editor you need to disable the line numbers in options. XChat works better in Linux because its designed for Linux. XChat has a windows port yes but dont support it much at all.
