  1. s3t, he's not a smartar**, he's just explaining the difference. When your coding it's good to know what's what, as it allows you to use the programming language as it was written, and not just use any random code, which might do the job, but wasn't intended for that particular task.
  2. i know that in MSN chat, you had to use one of the following characters as line feeds (as it played with UTF-8 encoding, like you suggested above). Remember, these are already in the raw formats, so you shouldn't need to convert them (or you SHOULD NOT convert them).
ï€ ï€‹ You only need 1 of these 3, so try them and see what you get.
  3. you muttered those words... i believe we should all start running now!
  4. answered in rumbaar. If you copy/paste comments, please atleast make sure the spelling is right It makes the questions just that much easier, especially if they are long questions.
  5. they might "label" it as an ocx, but if it's an ajax system, it's completely different. Should be get into what an "ocx" is, and what an "ajax" system is? Like they might be able to do the same job, but seriously, there is great differences between them.
  6. lol, yea, he's been around for donks But hixxy is right. I think it's just more for personal preference, but either way, all the codes provided will work. Like they say, old habits die hard.
  7. gee you all fight like 10 year olds. Grow up... and throw a punch already! Topic closed. As for getting the group stuff done. The Rumbaar' recommendation is what you should go with. They already have something a long the lines of this working. If it's not exactly what you want, you should be able to modify your code enough, by looking at theirs, and making your own code work. Good Luck.
  8. there is a good trend here, and i'm pretty sure everyone saw it coming. http://www.tg007.net/index.php?page=affiliates take a look down the list, i'm sure you'll find some sort of clone chat, or atleast another website that supports/links to a clone chat.
  9. TroN-0074, that was like MSN chat rooms though, so many people didn't like others with scripts, so buzzen is no different in that aspect, more because in retrospect, buzzen consists of the old MSN people.
  10. Yahoo, i like it. It looks pretty good. I know that sometimes we (the general public of TG) give you a lot "crap" about buzzen, but i'm sure that quite a few will agree, it does look good. I do have one recommendation though. See how you have the buttons a long the top, i would probably get rid of the border around that, move the buttons to be left aligned, and have it sit next to the buzzen fly (in the circle), and make the buttons bigger, so that the pictures encased in them come up nicer, as in, they come up bit bigger, clearer, and nicer. And also, how about a glassy finish on the buttons, just to see what it would look like. But as i said, it is nice, just ideas for you to hopefully improve the interface some more
  11. and "global mod"? I'll copy the images across to my server, i just need the links.
  12. where is this screenshot? There is so much talk about the design, but i think me, and a few others, can't say anything, because we haven't even seen what it looks like.
  13. I know that my GuarD-Doctor was a mad feature, and so were a few other features in GD, but the main reason why i haven't released any as addons were that they required to many codes from other sections of GD5. That can be overcome, i know. But if you were to say have 3 of my addons, i'm sure you would have 10 to 20 lines of code, identical to each script. Who knows, if i get bored, i might start releasing my stuff in GD5 as addons, but i doubt that'll happen as university starts up in 2 weeks. Added: Don't expect these updater to be 100% effective. I know that with GuarD-Doctor, i struggled to get it to opperate at an optimum. People might think it done the job well, but i found there were still significant errors that i weren't happy with. However, this is me, the creator. I'm sure any creator will tell you that they are one of the biggest critics of their own work. If they aren't, then... well, the work may not be worth using.
  14. yea, but really, how many entries will you have in an access list? 200? And it isn't like you'll be constantly accessing it, and even if you were, it would be alright, cause you wouldn't be making reference to a text file at all or not.
  15. arr, you know... whether the hash table is full or empty, they still use "ALL" of the reserved space. With hash tables, you reserve space for that particular table, so whether that table is empty or full, you still have that space reserved, and therefore, that space is in use by the ram and/or cpu. So really, having a lot of tables that aren't required, well not really advised. I remember hearing from someone (can't remember who), but i would think that it would be better to have a window to do this. I hear windows use less ram/cpu, but it is just as quick to access as a hash table.
  16. i wouldn't recommend doing a lot of hashing as it does use a bit of ram/cpu when accessing them constantly.
  17. depends on the network your using. If the network has a web interface, such as an OCX, then you need to specifically design your strings to suite that interface. If it was just you and other mIRC users, if you sent a message across with color codes and that, all the mIRCs would still recoginise, and turn the string into the way it should be. unless you meant something else.
  18. travis, they are just defining the word "celebrity". So don't really have a go at people for it. I know that there are a couple of posts here which you would want to go up against, but most are just debating the arguement of advertisement of "celebrity".
  19. they are referring to nicklust. The thing about nicklust is that when they use $nick, it gives them the unicode version, not the utf-8 version, so as a result, nicklust would need to be fully reprogrammed to actually work how people want it.
  20. travis is right. Because the regcookie would change, it would change from then onwoulds. If buzzen implemented the no clone feature, there is a reason for it, and i don't think that voiding it is a wise idea. That was one of the biggest reasons why rooms were getting taken on MSN, because people had the ability to clone room owner nicks, and tricking people into giving them the pass.
  21. Copyright isn't what you would call a minor offence. Copyright infringement is considered quite serious, whether it be (as error put it) a song, or a piece of software. About location, I’m not sure if Canada would do the trial, or if US would. I thought it was the lifetime of the artist/creator, and then some time after (70 years), but my information is probably out dated on that. This being the case, Buzzen (or whatever chat network) would be required to state the original author still, and they could only release the software under freeware or public domain. They are not allowed to make claim (profit) off someone's work. Server's use of the ocx and saying "copyright to me", that's breach of public domain policy right there. I doubt anyone is gonna turn around and say your a bad person for standing up for something. If they do, they are major hypocrites and should have that treatment on them. LOL, that's a laugh. I always thought courts don't care what is presented, just how it is presented. Like seriously, most of the crap they do in courts could be skipped. It's never about the fact or truth, they don't want to hear the surrounding circumstances, all they care about is what rule has been broken, and it's normally the jackass lawyer who can present his/her case like a Christmas present that would win. Here here! My own view of it all: I don't really care if buzzen uses the ocx (or any other server), but I won’t stand by and watch people try and say that it's right. Gwen, though her past actions have tarnished her, is right in saying that it's wrong for them to draw many users to buzzen with lies and that. The ends doesn't justify the means, and trying to say that something is right, when it's clearly wrong, well that's just as bad as committing the crime yourself. "Accessory before/after the fact" carries similar penalties than that of the original offence.
  22. From what i'm aware (and the way i see it) is that it's a limitation based on the last modification and copyright handle on the ocx, or as the website put it "statute of limitations starts from the date of the last infringing act". I believe they still made upgrades to the OCX in 2006. This being the case, they would not be allowed to use the OCX till 2009. So don't go and say, it's legal just because the original version game out 3+ years ago. Because it's from time of last publication. They continuely modified the OCX, even though it was mandatory to download, they continually upgraded it. I'm only a high school graduate, but I believe that the context should be taken as a whole, not just the words you like.
  23. go and ask the server admins. Maybe they just stuffed up the raw message.
  24. the real story is exactly as she stated, just put her name in place of err0r, and another person's name in place of ozzy, there you go, you've got the story. I'm not putting names to things, even though i know the story, not my place, but just so the picture is clear. She is fighting against buzzen because she feels it's related to what happened in the past. And though she knows that what she has done is wrong, she on some level is trying to justify it, but on a greater level is trying to allow others to understand the reasoning for it all. I'll just say, the ends DOES NOT justify the means. err0r is right in saying that there are better ways of doing things. I've put in my two cents, which is probably worth a lot more in this thread. LOL, back to last minute cramming for physics. 4 exams left...
