I do miss msn chat. Moreso for the people i met, like everyone else i met a lot of good people there, and had a lot of fun times. I miss the server resets too, that was always fun. Having a good UK room with 100 people most nights, and most people chatting was great. Even the flooding/porn bots/room takes was fun at times..or finding new ways to stop them. That all added to the fun of msn, and if it wasnt for all that scripting would not be anywhere near as it is now, and im sure this site wouldnt exist.

I read all these posts about chat networks and cant help thinking chat is dead. Msn did a great job with chat and if it wasnt for them we wouldnt be here i guess. However, i look around the different chat sites, of which there are many, and dont see anything close to what msn did. Most servers have the same chatters on a regular basis but looking at the roomlists, most rooms are dead, or even it shows a room with 0 people in it, whats the point in that. I would agree Buzzen chat has tried very hard to emulate what msn had, but i think most people have moved on to new things. I dont agree with the room charging thing, however they may put it (i dont want this to turn into a debate about buzzen) im just making a point. I thought for a while about making a chat devoted to Scottish people but decided against it. Yes i have been involved with some different ircx servers, but its fair to say ( to get back to original point ) i dont see the point in a small scale chat server.

I think im right in saying you use the client on your own server to creat the chat network.

WOW...And just on a similar note when i read that..........in my house between my wife me and the kids we have..........5 mobile phones between us, 3 pc's, 1 laptop. 2 ps2's, a nintendo DS, a sony PSP, (a nintedo wii after xmas day) Tv's in nearly all the rooms, cable and a 10 meg internet connection through a wireless router. When i was a kid we had 2 tv's a vcr and for 1 xmas i got a sinclair spectrum +2...........How times have changed.

Personally i get both sides of the argument, if you want a good connection make one if you can. Some people dont have the skills to code and want to use something they like and know how to use i.e vincula, so i see their point in asking. As a second note, most chat servers have made their own connection so why not use that?...just my 2 pence worth.

I take my hat off ( if i had one) to buzzen for trying to prove people wrong, im not bothered either way, but good luck to them for trying ...ps not taking anything away from VSIXc, which is a differnt ballgame.
