Today the game publisher released a trailer of Max Payne in action, just to let you know the franchise hasn't gone the way of vaporware. Max Payne 3 is set—what do you know—eight years after the last Max Payne. Max's life looks to have gone down the toilet: he's no longer a cop, and his closest friends consists of empty alcohol bottles and drug capsules. He has left the familiar New York for the exotic Sao Paulo, where he works in private security protecting the family of Rodrigo Branco, a wealthy real-estate tycoon. However, when one of the family members is kidnapped, it's time to get busy. For veterans looking to return to the Max Payne series, Rockstar Studios seems to have made upgrades to the cover system and slow motion "Bullet-Time" mode, which slows down time. This similar style of gameplay was also utilized in Rockstar's more recent game Red Dead Redemption (known as "Dead Eye"). Max Payne 3 will also be the first in the franchise to introduce online multiplayer, which offers traditional deathmatch modes.
