Microsoft has confirmed that some customers are experiencing glitches when they attempt to play Halo Reach on certain Xbox 360 models.

"We are aware of a very small number of customers reporting that their copy of Halo Reach is causing a 'disc read' error," Microsoft said in a statement. "Those affected should contact Microsoft customer support at 1-800-4MY-XBOX for troubleshooting assistance," Microsoft said.

According to reports, the problem mostly affects the 20GB Xbox 360 Pro, which was on the market from 2005 to 2008. Users have also reported some issues playing Halo Reach with the 120 GB Xbox 360 Elite.

The bug does not appear to have put a crimp in Halo Reach sales. The basic edition was still in the number one spot on Amazon's list of top-selling video games as of early Monday, a full week after its Sept. 14 launch.

The Limited edition had fallen to the 37th spot on Amazon's list, while the $149 Legendary edition, which includes 10-inch character figurines designed by Todd McFarlane, was in the 51st slot.

Halo Reach, an Xbox 360 exclusive that was produced by Bungie, is billed as a prequel to the original version of Halo, one of the top-selling video games of all time.

"Halo Reach follows the story of Noble Team, a squad of heroic Spartan soldiers as they make their final stand on planet Reach, humanity's last line of defense between the terrifying Covenant and Earth," according to Microsoft.

The game features a new graphics and audio engine that offers enhanced visuals and sounds over its predecessors, according to the software maker.
