Mirc Focus On Dialog Open

Hey,

Is there any way I can open a dialog and keep my cursors focus on mIRC's channel window? Every time a dialog opens up while I'm typing in the channel, the editbox focus moves to that newly opened dialog instead of the mIRC channel. Is there any way I can keep my focus on the channel?

It might work if you minimize the dialog on init.

 

on *:dialog:dname:init:*: dialog -i $dname $dname

that wont solve the issue as far as i'm aware, because the focus will still be attracted to it as far as i'm aware.

 

as for solving it... i'm not too sure. check the focus options in /dialog.

Yes, I just now tried it out. Minimizing the dialog on init will set focus back to the previous active window. So use the dialog -i $dname $dname on init, and it will work.

So what if I said that isn't working for me?

 

On init for the certain dialog that is opening, it is also being docked in mIRC. Anyone have any solutions for that one? lol

josh what exactly you trying to do

cause i think your explinations a bit confusing

 

you want to open a dialog but keep focus set on the chan window?

if so you may want to look at $window in the help file

if however you want to set focus on the dialog then look for /dialog in the help file

The only solution that I know of for that is to just click back in your windows editbox if your dialog initializes.

you can use /window -a in the end of your init event, it will "flicker" a bit, but thats somthing you'd have to live with.

 

ie:

 

/open_dialog

on *:diaog:something:init:0: {

do_this

then_this

and_finally_this

window -a <channel window>

}

That doesn't seem to work, either Lindrian.

 

What I have is a dialog that opens up and then docks to the top of my mIRC window. When this happens, if I'm typing a message in a channel, my cursor focus goes to that dialog and I can't finish my message that I was typing.

 

 

I just tried adding window -a #TG007 to the dialog init, but that didn't work... I also tried minimizing the dialog once it opened and after it docked, that didn't work either.
