  1. As one of the few here who are developing their own custom ircx server, i would like to add that even if we do help you, you have to be able to help yourself first. I'd suggest you research what ircx servers are available, try them out and if there are some minor adjustments you want ask for those instead. On top of that, learn to code so you can be a help, right now you come off as a leech more than a user in distress.
  2. If you ask me the attacks are what make it hard to operate your own irc server, especially an ircx server. Personally, my server has been under attack so much since i opened it in august 06, that i keep bringing it back now just to piss off the attackers.
  3. I got an email saying i had a privmsg so i responded, unfortunitely i no longer share the source, many headaches have come about from sharing source(i.e. admin snooping peoples passwords and privmsgs, wannabe hackers trying to be funny, etc...) so if you'd like i can setup a compiled version you can use, it will work on any OS you throw it at with python 2.5.1 installed. but unless someone comes along with massive python and python socket knowledge i wont be sharing source...sorry
  4. he hasnt after 16 months of it lol, anyway i keep the server up because i believe in the server a lot, we can build a really nice community with the tools it has to offer present and future, and for a change, actually make chat FUN again. Even when msn died, it wasnt fun anymore.
  5. /server -m irc.electrickz.com -j #somewhere were pretty small at the moment primarily due to constant ddos attacks but we avg around 20-25 regs currently. all the code is based on python 2.51 and will not run on python 3.0, I am continuing develpment on python 2.51 for pyrc 3.0 as well. I have no intent on relearning what little I currently know for python 3.0. Some of the big features are being python its completely portable, weve run this specific server on fbsd, win2k3 and are about to move to CentOS. Pyrc has its own internal nickserv so services will never go down, it features &access tying identified nicknames into channel access so you can safely access a nickname w/out security risk, and were currently adapting mode # +X to represent ircd style rooms w/in the ircx enviroment. In the future I am adding some extra depth to the nickserv in the way of a personalized profile and stat tracking, and adopting SQL to manage the data, which also makes it easier to integrate with the web AND the Chatcore web applet. Also building a custom Chanserv function to adapt /access to a more familiar command structure for ircd users. And it will feature built in irc games such as mode # +T for trivia, mode # +W for irc wars, and mode # +I for idle games. So as you can see, we have come a great way since the start, but also have a long long way to go, which is why i added my 2 cents, its much too far away to get really excited about, or to even consider using outside of the current development enviroment.
  6. Well thats part of the thing with pyrc, it is not MSN or based on what MSN did with "webchat." We're going back beyond webchat to the old irc.msn.com days. Pyrc is closer to a hybrid server with features common to both unreal ircd and msn exchange, and many of the features of the anope services built in. I could probably write many paragraphs explaining how grand our hopes are for pyrc 3.0, but the new version is so early in development theres no telling if the updates will even be an improvement over the current 2.5 version. As long as you're looking for msn though, you wont find it. As for a link, I can provide you with the address of our irc server running on pyrcx 2.5, but thats about all. We have a very small userbase at the moment(some kiddies would love for us to fail) but theres plenty there who can provide anyone interested with a copy of the 2.5 source to scan & study. As far as 3.0, I am keeping that to myself until I have made some significant progress to alleviate the current problems with the services datamanagement and linking. I just didnt want to spam my server if it is unwanted, I wasnt exactly the most loved user on MSN, nor am I now.
  7. to the irc server using pyrc? or were you hoping to see the source?
  8. saw that pyrc was mentioned in this thread, just wanted to add my 2 cents. At the current time pyrc will not be ready for commercial use til at least mid-year 2008 or even early 2009. We will be happy to show you the old version though which is incredibly stable, and shows much promise.
