The Gate Keeper
it is true that jobs are being outsourced. however, if you're good at what you do. no outsourcing will put you out of a job. i just finished my degree, and i got a graduate position, as well as several other companies attempting to get me as well. So just finishing uni, i was already being headhunted as a software developer. jobs such as systems analyst and business analyst, as well as project manager roles, will very rarely get outsourced because of the fact that they deal with extremely sensitive data, and Australia has one of the strictest data privacy laws in the world. so yes, it is a risk getting into the IT profession, but i say it's well worth it if you are passionate, and willing to put in the effort to learn, and make yourself stand out amongst the rest. You do not need to be the top student either, just someone who is capable, and employable.
