SKI-Readme

Thanks for downloading my Ski-Script. I hope this script will help you fighting boredom successfully. If you have got any suggestions or if you have found any bugs, please contact me.

I'm sorry for possible spelling mistakes, English is not my native language.

By the way, I hate to see someone changing or copying my code.

Introduction

This script is a simple game which might help fighting boredom. For me at least, while scripting this game, it helped.
This game is more or less a rebuild of the 15-year-old Microsoft SKI game written by Chris Pirih, thus it keeps the old graphic style and the distinctive simplicity alive. Your target is to guide the snowboarder down the track as fast as possible. Of course this target varies on the different types of tracks you can choose.

(Un/)Installation:

It is irrelevant in which folder you put those files, you just have to make sure that all files, the script, the help file and particularly the ski.bmp, stay in the same folder.
You can load this script like you load any script:

/load -rs "C:/script-dir/ski.mrc"
Unloading this script works almost the same as loading the file:

/unload -rs "C:/script-dir/ski.mrc"

Both the hash table and the buffer window created by this script will be removed.

How to Play SKI

After making sure that you have installed this script as described above, you can start this game by either using the popup menu or typing /ski.pic.

Then the SKI custom window is opened and you can start guiding the snowboarder using your mouse. Now you have to choose one of the three possible tracks by crossing the start line just straight ahead, crossing the left start line or crossing the right start line.

Normal straight ahead

Try to go down the track as fast as possible.

Note: Crashing into a tree increases your needed time of 5sec, so be aware.

Slalom left

This track forces you to drive a zigzag course in order to pass the blue flags on the right and the red flags on the left. To get a glimpse of the position of each flag, a small map at the top right shows you both your and the flags actual position.

Note: Each missed flag costs you 15 seconds.

Hardcore right

Your target again is to pass this track as fast as possible. Now crashing into trees or rocks does not only increase your needed time but decreases your "health". If the health has reached zero, the snowboarder is too exhausted to go on.

Features:

This game includes a few guiding features and special items. The snowboarder has the ability to jump, in special cases even about trees. Otherwise he will crash into them, as you will soon notice.

What exactly the stones, the hills, the snowmans and my dear friend, the yeti, will provoke, you have to discover on your own.

Good luck and have fun!
