This is addressed to script writers who upload their scripts without MIRC. Believe it or not, there are still alot of new interested script users out there who have never downloaded a script and are totally and completely overwhelmed with trying to download a script as well as also download and add MIRC to the script.

Could you all (sf specifically) possibly either add MIRC or a read file which outlines the steps for these new users, please.

:) thanks.

The creator of mIRC asked that we not include the mirc.exe but you can include the ini file which is really the most important. SF does have a readme file that explains what to do as well as documentation on the forum.

Our site was granted permission to include mIRC exe in submissions a long time ago within certain parameters that we monitor. Including them with your techgear submissions will be ok.

If a scripter submits a script without mIRC.exe included, that is their perogative! If Khalid granted Techgear rights to have mIRC included in scripts, it was done with the intentions of making life easier for those who are new to using scripts and they dont want to be going through the nonsense of adding mIRC.exe etc.! There are some scripts released without mIRC.exe with the intentions of allowing the user to choose which mIRC version they want to use.

If those of you still have an issue of mIRC.exe being included in scripts that are available for download, you have every right to go contact Khalid regarding it but Im sure hes not going to make such a big deal regarding it! Now if you include such things as registration codes or keygens, then I can see where there would be an issue!! Again what you choose to include in your custom mIRC scripts is entirely up to you!!!

that is the very point I made when I emailed khaled several years ago requesting permission to add the exe file. At the time we were MSN scripting oriented. Most of the users of the scripts were not true scripters but rather very novice users. Excluding the mIRC exe would have only confused many of the users. Therefore I sent an email to Khaled explaining why we needed to include the exe and he replied back that he understood and we could include the mIRC.exe provided we follow certain criteria. We have followed them. As submitters you are welcome to submit them with or without the exe.
