Review: Xampp For Windows

Description: XAMPP is a very easy to install Apache Distribution for Linux, Solaris, Windows and Mac OS X. The package includes the Apache web server, MySQL, PHP, Perl, a FTP server and phpMyAdmin.

Review: I found this while surfing around the net. I thought I would get it a try. I had my reservations about installing this thinking it would be hard to deal with or conflict with other software on my pc. Installing was a breeze. A simple install dialog with very few options to have to choose from. Everything installed properly. When I started it all the apache would not set to running mode. After messing around with it a bit I figured out another program was using the port apache was trying to use so I corrected that. I started messing with the database and it became clear very quickly that this program would really...

Review: Bigdump

imageName: BigDump.php

Description: Staggered import of large and very large MySQL Dumps (like phpMyAdmin 2.x Dumps) even through the web servers with hard runtime limit and those in safe mode. The script executes only a small part of the huge dump and restarts itself. The next session starts where the last was stopped.

Review: Many times when dealing with very large databases myphpadmin just isn't enough. Between your browser and phpmyadmin, large database restores are a real headache. When dealing with very large database restores you only have a few options.

Shell access is hard for people to understand.
Host provider does it: can take time getting your host to do it.
Chopping up the db: this can be very very time consuming when done manually.
